Students and Parents,
This is Mr. Hatch writing on the behalf of both teachers. Beginning today, any student that has earned a seventy or below on any summative assignment may schedule a time with Mr. Bailey or Mr. Hatch to come before or after school to retake that assignment anytime before December 16, 2015. This pertains to test, papers, quizzes, and projects. We will grade the new assignment and average the two scores that will be entered into the grade book. Mr. Bailey and I feel that this is the fairest way to help students who have not done as well as they would like.
If a student needs help reviewing for a retake or for what we are currently studying in class, the student may also schedule a time before or after school to meet either teacher for tutoring or a review session. In either case, we do ask that the students lets us know a day in advance when they are coming so that we may make preparations. Students may give appropriate notice through email or in class. If you have any questions concerning this policy please email either teacher using the link on the Home page.
On another note, this week students in senior English will write a rhetorical essay analyzing "A Modest Proposal," by Jonathan Swift. This assignment is due Tuesday, December 08, 2015. Students will then complete a project in which they will make their own Modest Proposal due at the end of class on Wednesday. Both assignments will count as a summative grade.
Thank you,
Mr. Hatch
